ABOUT THESE PAPERS
The PRACTICAL DATABASE FOUNDATIONS
series are a set of originally written papers, available exclusively
from this site, the objective of which is to explain to IT practitioners the
scientific foundation of data management and its practical implications that
are not addressed by, or are distorted in the industry, have not been
sufficiently or properly clarified, and/or are widely misunderstood.
They will be as definitive statements as possible on the
current state of database science, or advances thereof. We will strive,
on the one hand, to be as close to, and a accurate as possible to the formal
foundations of the field, while at the same time use a language as accessible
to the IT practitioner as possible, using examples from real practice whenever
possible.
