Do you have any articles written on mapping an object model
to a relational model? I'm working with
a new group of object oriented programmer (I'm far outnumbered) and am getting
pressure to make design sacrifices to support their application data access
layer. Ideally, neither side would have
to make sacrifices. Maybe with a
database view layer mapping to the object layer? I'm using Sybase ASA which supports updatable view, but haven't
experimented much with this technique. Hmmm.
Any supporting references to support NOT breaking correct
relational database design practices would be appreciated.

I don't think you will be able to convince OO people with any
evidence you provide. They don't have the necessary background/foundation
knowledge to appreciate any such evidence. And it's practically impossible to
convey such knowledge with short notice. They would probably benefit from a
seminar—but can you organize one?
I suggest you do a search on 'object' and 'oo" on
dbdebunk—there's several writings here on the subject.
Then go to my following columns, there's some articles there:
